OUR WORK - Case Studies

 

Background:

New Zealand is well known within the medtech sector for its innovative technology and its benefits to the healthcare system. Two emerging companies, Pulsecor and KM Medical, had developed novel medical devices and were looking to expand their market presence and attract potential partners in Europe.

Objectives:

  • Highlight the medtech innovation emerging from New Zealand: KM Medical and Pulsecor at MEDICA 2008
  • Manage multi-language communications, particularly in English and German
  • Support partnering objectives of companies

Method:

MEDICA provides a huge visibility platform however companies have to compete with thousands of others for the attention of the press and potential partners. Using past experience working with media, we pitched KM Medical and  Pulsecor, two medical device companies from New Zealand that had the strongest news potential, and supporting data and materials in advance to those media with conference previews. This also provided exposure to potential partners in advance of the conference.

Results:

  • KM Medical with neonatal/infant resuscitator product:
    • Media coverage: profile in In Vivo; coverage in Medical Press (wire service) conference preview which was picked up extensively by medical print press; profile in Artze Zeitung and European Hospital, the official conference newsletters
    • Partnering: Pre-conference media coverage led to 4 potential global partners approaching KM Medical during the conference
  • Pulsecor with arterial/venous blood pressure monitor:
    • Media coverage:  Medical Press (wire service) conference preview which was picked up extensively by medical print press; profile in Artze Zeitung and European Hospital, the official conference newsletters; profile in Deutsches Artzeblatt, Impact Médecin Hebdo and La Médecine Hospitalière
    • Partnering: Pre-conference media coverage led to  interest from 2 potential global partners approaching Pulsecor during the conference
