Background:

QIAGEN is a provider of sample and assay technologies for molecular diagnostics, applied testing, academic and pharmaceutical research. With around 1 billion dollars in sales, the Company was clearly becoming more attractive to a broader investor audience. Through the combination of a number of events, including the anniversary of its 10 yr. NASDAQ listing, the time was right to broaden awareness among financial audiences, particularly in the US to QIAGEN’s  investment proposition.

Objectives:

  • Increase visibility of QIAGEN as a leader in Pre-analytics & Molecular Diagnostics to a financial audience unfamiliar with the story in US
  • Lay cornerstone for future IR events in US

Method:

  • Utilize Nasdaq 10 yr. listing anniversary to host investor/analyst and media information events
  • Arrange interviews with key financial press in NY surrounding  televised “ringing of the opening bell” at NASDAQ
  • Organize  investor and analyst luncheon with guest panel of 8 speakers including Red Cross, Quest Diagnostics, DOD
  • Host cocktail reception for investor/analysts and VIPs as “thank you” for supporting company last 10 years
  • Press release and webcast events to reach broadest audience possible, including employees at remote company sites

Results:

  • Media coverage on Bloomberg, CNBC and n-TV, print coverage in key German financial press including Handelsblatt, FT Deutschland
  • Luncheon attendance exceeded room capacity with 60+ analyst and investors
  • 2 subsequent non-deal roadshows resulted in $10 million stock purchases
